What’s Kurashiki like?
The Kurashiki Bikan Historical Quarter is characterised by its white-walled streets and canals, which retain the atmosphere of the Edo period, and is designated as a national important cultural asset. Old buildings and merchant houses line the streets, and the traditional townscape remains intact. There are also many art galleries and museums, including the Ohara Museum of Art, where visitors can experience art and culture. The Kojima area is known as the first area in Japan where full-scale denim production took place and is loved both at home and abroad.
