“Know, look, choose, taste, encounter”
Mr. Takanori Yamamoto, the second generation owner of the long-established “MINGEI TORU” folk craft store, which has been in business for over 50 years, will explain how to enjoy folk craft, its history and appeal based on its connection to the Ohara family and Kurashiki.
After the lecture, we will move to Kurashiki Mingei Museum to see actual folk crafts.
The last stop will be the Mukomatsu-ryo, built in the early Showa period (early 20th century), where we will have a hands-on experience of making sushi rolls with an invited lecturer. Participants will be provided with folk craft tableware, and will be able to choose a dish that matches the sushi roll they will make. It will be fun to share with other participants why you chose the dishes you did.
Afterwards, you can pick up and purchase any items that you like at the “Fusion Mingei Shop” or “Kurashiki Mingei”.
